
The rain pounded against the windows as we pulled into the mansion's driveway the silence between us a living, breathing thing. Rehan's knuckles were white against the steering wheel, bloodied from the violence I'd witnessed earlier. Violence that had both terrified and God help meโfascinated me in equal measure.
I couldn't stop replaying the moment in my mind: the primal fury in his eyes as he'd torn that man away from me, how his entire body had transformed into a weapon of destruction. How different it was from the controlled, calculated businessman the world knew. How different from the cold distant husband I thought I knew.
